Truman & Orange, the premium drinks company known for introducing interesting, discovery brands to discerning South African drinkers has just added Copperhead Gin to their ever-growing gin collection.

Founding owner of Truman & Orange, Rowan Leibbrandt explains,  “Truman & Orange’s Extraordinary and Fabulous Gin Collection is an assemblage of the world’s most unique flavours and is designed to fulfil discerning drinkers’ burgeoning need for new, interesting and premium gins that have been sourced from all corners of the globe. The stories behind the gins make them infinitely collectible and we just loved how the story of Copperhead brings the history of gin back into the spotlight.”

It was the summer of 2013 when Yvan Vindevogel, pharmacist-entrepreneur, discovered an interesting link between the mighty powers of the liquor we call Gin and his profession as a pharmacist. There, on a quiet Sunday morning, reading the paper with a cup of tea, he stumbled upon an article about the fascinating story of Gin. Intrigued by the ancient powers and the medicinal history of this drink, he set himself a new purpose: as a pharmacist in mind and heart, he would bring the experience of mixing and experimenting with flavours, characteristics and herbal extracts in Gin to the people. He would give them the chance to be their own Alchemist, to create their own ‘Elixir of Life’. And he would name it Copperhead.

Many ingredients were listed as options to create the ultimate gin and after a month-long process experimenting with different batches, the perfect balance of 5 ingredients: juniper, coriander seeds, Angelica, Cardamon and Orange Peel were found and the first Copperhead gin was born.  It was named Copperhead London Dry Gin, or The Original.

Copperhead hit the market hard by swimming against the stream. Where all the competitors were making Western Dry gins, Copperhead returned to the roots of gin and created a London Dry gin.  Distilled at the Copperhead Distillery in Belgium, the gin is sweet and citrusy on the nose and has become adored for its orange zest, juniper berries and cardamom flavour notes.

Recommended Retail Price: approx. R549 per bottle at all good bottle stores.

  • 150ml Fever-Tree Mediterannean
