South African furniture and décor artisan Palmy Living locally designs and manufactures products with durable, quality materials. At the head of this team are husband and wife duo, Johann (engineer, product designer, practical thinker) and Cara-Ann (creative, strategist, dreamer). The name Palmy denotes flourishing and it is exactly this idea of creating a glorious, intentional lifestyle that is central to the brand and its collections.

As a proudly South African brand, Palmy Living launched a collection of AfriScandi pieces, adding African textures, shapes and soft light as features that complement homes with understated, simplified schemes. Most of all, the brand aims to bring an African essence of beautiful raw materials and quality craftmanship to the modern home.

Inspired by the slow life and intimate at-home moments, Palmy Living is adding to its carefully curated range of locally designed and manufactured furniture pieces with their latest Slow Life collection. The new pieces are all designed to make an understated statement. Each piece is designed with at-home moments in mind, with a design style that features neutral colours and shapes free from artifice.

Johann is the creative engineer bringing Palmy living pieces to life, while Cara-Ann Potgieter runs the business and dreams up the latest additions to their range of quality pieces. While Palmy Living fuels Cara-Ann’s creative spirit, she continues to bring her strategic strengths to her consulting business, LaFondazione.

Says Cara-Ann: ‘Our ethos is rooted in living beautifully, and it is this commitment to intentionality that comes to life fully in this new collection. While we believe in slow living, we also believe in slow consumption and manufacturing which has translated into most of our pieces from our latest collections being designed in collaboration with local designers and makers.

‘Some pleasures are so subtle, that we might just miss them. When we slow down and pay attention, we may discover something tender and lovely. We hope this collection will be a catalyst for those slow moments.’

Made from solid white oak, powder-coated steel and quality linen and upholstery, all of the carefully selected elements come together to create a persuasive mix of laid-back luxe.

Who doesn’t love a big comfortable poof that you can sink into after a long day? After searching long and hard for the perfect cocooning seat of this kind, Palmy Living finally found the perfect match with local business, Comfyzak and teamed up to create South Africa’s first luxury Comfyzak made with durable yet inviting material that will suit a slow, AfriScandi-inspired home.

As stylist and influencer Eduan Roos said: ‘It’s like sitting on a Chanel coat.’
